Multistable vibration energy harvesters: Principle, progress, and perspectives

نویسندگان

چکیده

Vibration energy harvesting is a process by which ambient mechanical from environment or host structures converted into usable (usually, but not always, electrical energy). This technology considered to be relatively new method for supplying sustainable low-powered sensor networks and electronic devices. Various vibration harvesters utilizing piezoelectric, electromagnetic, electrostatic, triboelectric conversion mechanisms were designed tested achieve this goal. Meanwhile, one key challenge of such approaches results their response the input excitation characteristics, especially in terms frequency variation. To address that challenge, multistable characteristics commonly exist mathematical models physical devices, can used designing isolators, compliant mechanisms, morphing structures, circuits, filters, etc. Currently, have received increasing attention because rich nonlinear dynamic show benefit improving efficient bandwidth, i.e. frequency-wise robustness. paper aims provide comprehensive review state-of-the-art progress harvesters.

Smart Flat Membrane Sheet Vibration-Based Energy Harvesters

The dynamic responses of membrane are completely dependent on Pre-tensioned forces which are applied over a boundary of arbitrary curvilinear shape. In most practical cases, the dynamic responses of membrane structures are undesirable. Whilst they can be designed as vibration-based energy harvesters. In this paper a smart flat membrane sheet (SFMS) model for vibration-based energy harvester is ...

On Mechanical Modeling of Cantilevered Piezoelectric Vibration Energy Harvesters

Cantilevered beams with piezoceramic (PZT) layers are the most commonly investigated type of vibration energy harvesters. A frequently used modeling approach is the single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) modeling of the harvester beam as it allows simple expressions for the electrical outputs. In the literature, since the base excitation on the harvester beam is assumed to be harmonic, the well known ...

Temperature effects on output power of piezoelectric vibration energy harvesters

The performance of piezoelectric vibration energy harvesters was studied as a function of environment temperature. The devices fabricated by soft or hard PZTs were used to investigate the effect of material parameters on the thermal degradation of the devices. PZT MEMS device was also prepared and compared with the bulk devices to investigate scaling effect on the thermal degradation. All devic...

Modeling and Simulation of Linear and Nonlinear MEMS Scale Electromagnetic Energy Harvesters for Random Vibration Environments

The simulation results for electromagnetic energy harvesters (EMEHs) under broad band stationary Gaussian random excitations indicate the importance of both a high transformation factor and a high mechanical quality factor to achieve favourable mean power, mean square load voltage, and output spectral density. The optimum load is different for random vibrations and for sinusoidal vibration. Red...

On the Comparison, Scaling and Benchmarking of Electromagnetic Vibration Energy Harvesters

This paper introduces and compares different benchmark parameters for the performance of electromagnetic energy harvesters, including the bottom-up (power according to the harvester model) as well as the top-down view (maximum power that can be generated within a volume) and considering the dependency and scaling of geometrical and physical parameters, such as the mechanical damping. The compar...
